In response to the current war taking place in Ukraine, ESE together with the Ukrainian Diabetology Association and the Association of the Endocrinologists of Ukraine have developed statements to create awareness around the needs of endocrine patients, produced materials and actions to support the endocrine health care providers and the population in Ukraine.
A message to our friends and colleagues in Ukraine - December 2023
In order to support patients and physicians in their care pathway and highlight emergency aspects related to specific endocrine diseases , ESE has developed 5 disease emergency cards in Ukrainian language. The cards address critical situations that can occur in Adrenal Insufficiency, Type 1 Diabetes, Hypothyroidism, Diabetes Insipidus and Hypoparathyroidism. These cards can be downloaded, printed on credit card format and provided to the patient.

The Ukrainian Diabetology Association and the European Society of Endocrinology have issued a Joint Statement: Ukraine and endocrine drug shortages to highlight the need to secure the continued care of patients with endocrine disease with regards to urgent medical supply. This statement can serve to inform governments, institutions, humanitarian aid organisations and stakeholders about the most pressing medical need in the care of patient with endocrine disorders. This statement will be updated as more information becomes available, and can be used by any endocrine professional assisting patients in or from Ukraine.
