Welcome to the new Chair of ECAS (ESE Council of Affiliated Societies).

We are pleased to be welcome Charlotte Höybye, Sweden, as the new Chair of ECAS (ESE Council of Affiliated Societies).

Charlotte Höybye graduated from the University of Aarhus, Denmark, and completed the majority of her clinical training in Sweden. She has been a senior physician and associate professor at the Department of Endocrinology, Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, for over 30 years. Her primary clinical and research focus is on hypothalamic-pituitary disorders, with a particular emphasis on adults with Prader-Willi syndrome. In 2003, she was awarded a PhD from the Karolinska Institute for her thesis titled "Endocrine and Metabolic Aspects of Adult Prader-Willi Syndrome with Special Emphasis on the Effect of Growth Hormone Treatment."

Dr. Höybye has made significant contributions to the field of endocrinology through her involvement in clinical practice, education, and editorial roles. From 2008 to 2012, she served as a member of the European Society of Endocrinology’s (ESE) postgraduate committee and has delivered lectures at several ESE postgraduate courses. She held the position of Associate Editor for Growth Hormone and IGF Research from 2006 to 2016 and was Senior Editor for Endocrine Connections from its inception in 2012 until 2022. Since 2022, she has served as Associate Editor for JCEM Case Reports.

In addition to her editorial contributions, Dr. Höybye chaired the Local Organizing Committee for the European Congress of Endocrinology held in Stockholm in 2024. She currently serves as the adult chair of MTG 5 (Growth and Genetic Obesity) in the Endo-ERN network and, as of November 2024, has assumed the role of chair of ECAS.

Our sincere thanks go to our departing ECAS Chair, Anton Luger (2020-2024). His commitment to ESE has been unwavering and we look forward to working with him on other ESE initiatives.
