Experts from the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE) and the Endocrine Society meet with EU Commissioner Jessika Roswall and high-level EU representatives

BRUSSELS Wednesday 5 March 2025 Today a delegation of experts from ESE and the Endocrine Society met with EU Commissioner Jessika Roswall, who is responsible for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy.
During this milestone meeting, our experts highlighted the importance of endocrinology as a medical specialty. With the meeting focusing on Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs), our experts conveyed the latest science around endocrine disruptors and discussed public health and research priorities in disease areas linked to EDCs including cancer, obesity, diabetes, infertility and thyroid disease.
With many current and scheduled legislative files in this area, it was an ideal time for us to brief the Commissioner on the latest scientific developments to enable a more informed decision-making process. The upcoming REACH revision and the ongoing PFAS restriction proposal were amongst the many topics discussed.
The delegation also met with other high-level EU representatives to discuss next steps in tackling Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) and how we can work together to create a healthier environment and prevent the onset of the many endocrine conditions associated with EDCs.
